Fair Housing
Rental Customers Requesting an Accommodation to Fill Out a Lease Application
It is our policy to provide leasing services in compliance with all applicable laws and to evaluate every Applicant against the same published Minimum Requirements. Requests for exceptions that are not related to a disability are handled in writing through the Policy Exception Request Form; we do not schedule meetings to negotiate the published criteria, and no Agent or staff member may waive them.
A request for a reasonable accommodation is different. Under the Fair Housing Act, a person with a disability may ask us to change a rule, policy, practice, or service, or to provide help with access, when the change is necessary because of the disability. Examples include completing the application with staff assistance, additional time or an alternative way to provide income documents, a different way to view a home, an assistance animal, a live-in aide who will not be a Tenant, or another exception to a screening rule that is needed because of a disability. We consider each request individually, respond within five business days, and will work with you on alternatives if we cannot grant it as made. You do not need to share a diagnosis or provide medical records; when the disability or the need is not obvious, we may ask for reliable confirmation from a source that knows you. Your application is otherwise reviewed under the same standards that apply to every Applicant. The full policy is Section 24 of our Minimum Requirements.
